How not to get burned booking a Miami charter
Miami has a well-documented illegal charter problem. Four questions to ask any operator — including us — before you pay anyone a deposit.
Ask who's driving the boat
A real charter runs with a USCG-licensed captain. Ask who will captain your trip before paying. If an operator can't name their captain's license, keep your deposit.
Ask what the price actually includes
The classic bait-and-switch is a low hourly rate that grows on the water: fuel surcharges, docking fees, 'cleaning fees' invented at the dock. Our pricing includes the captain, fuel for standard cruising, ice and water — every cost is named before you book, and nothing new appears once you're aboard.
Ask how the crew gets paid
Crew gratuity follows each vessel's Admin-configured minimum and collection method. A direct-to-crew minimum is disclosed before booking and is never added to charged checkout totals; a holiday percentage is per-vessel and can only raise the normal minimum.
Ask what your deposit actually buys
A booking payment should buy a confirmed date on a real calendar — not a promise. With us, the required payment shown at checkout reserves your date and locks the boat; the balance isn't due until the day of the charter. If weather or mechanical issues prevent safe departure, the Perfect Day Guarantee rebooks you free on any future date with availability. If an operator can't tell you what happens to your date when it rains, that's your answer.
