A clearer way to book a private yacht in Miami
Vice City Yacht Club helps guests compare a curated Miami charter fleet without sending the same request to a long list of brokers. Each public listing is organized around the details that matter before you commit: the actual vessel, guest capacity, available trip lengths, customer-facing price options, home marina, and current availability. The goal is a direct path from choosing a yacht to receiving a confirmed itinerary, not a lead form that starts another search.
The fleet ranges from practical day boats for a small group to larger motor yachts for birthdays, proposals, family celebrations, bachelor and bachelorette outings, corporate hospitality, weddings, and full-day escapes. The team checks the requested date and time with the vessel operation before treating a trip as confirmed. If the first choice is not available, guests receive relevant alternatives rather than an unrelated list.
Miami, Miami Beach, Biscayne Bay, and nearby cruising areas
Local charters commonly depart from marinas in Miami or Miami Beach. The selected yacht determines the exact departure point, and the final confirmation provides the marina address, boarding time, contact instructions, and any parking or arrival guidance. Guests should plan to arrive early enough to load belongings and complete the captain's safety briefing without reducing time underway.
Popular local routes include the Miami skyline, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Biscayne Bay, Star Island, Palm Island, Hibiscus Island, Monument Island, Marine Stadium, Key Biscayne, and the sandbars and anchorages permitted for the chosen vessel. Miami Beach, Sunny Isles, Bal Harbour, and Fort Lauderdale can also be part of an itinerary when yacht speed, charter duration, sea conditions, and marina location make the route practical.
A captain may adjust the route for wind, tide, traffic, restricted zones, or changing weather. A charter buys dedicated use of the yacht and crew for the reserved period; it does not guarantee that every requested landmark can fit into that period. Sharing priorities before departure helps the captain build the best safe itinerary for swimming, sightseeing, cruising, dining, or time at anchor.
Bahamas day trips and longer crossings are a separate category from local Biscayne Bay charters. They require a suitable offshore yacht, passports and entry documentation, favorable marine weather, enough time for customs procedures, and a route-specific fuel and crew quote. The team confirms those details in advance rather than representing every yacht or every date as Bahamas-ready.
Choose four, six, or eight hours
A four-hour charter is the most common starting point. It can cover a focused local cruise with skyline views and one primary stop, such as a sandbar or calm anchorage, while leaving time for boarding and returning to the marina. It suits guests who want a half-day celebration, sunset window, or first yacht experience without committing to a full day.
A six-hour charter adds useful flexibility. The captain can spend more time underway, allow a longer swim or lunch stop, and adapt the sequence when weekend boat traffic slows the route. Six hours is often a good fit for groups that want both sightseeing and relaxed time at anchor rather than choosing one or rushing both.
An eight-hour charter is designed for a full day. It gives the group more time to settle in, travel farther when conditions permit, enjoy several activities, and avoid watching the clock through every stop. Larger yachts, catered events, and itineraries with multiple destinations often benefit from the longer window. Custom durations, evening extensions, overnight stays, and multi-day charters depend on the individual vessel and crew schedule.
Charter time normally begins at the contracted start time, not when the last guest arrives. Marina rules, crew limits, and later bookings can prevent an automatic extension, so the group should be ready to board together. If extra time is desired, request it as early as possible so availability and the additional price can be confirmed.
What the charter price includes
Standard local pricing includes the private use of the selected yacht, a USCG-licensed captain, the required crew, and fuel for the vessel's normal local itinerary. Bottled water, ice, towels, and a Bluetooth music connection are standard on most VCYC charters. Ask about vessel-specific equipment before making plans around it.
The crew prepares the yacht, handles navigation and docking, provides the safety briefing, and supports normal guest service during the trip. Gratuity is customary for good service and may be collected or suggested separately according to the booking terms. The checkout summary identifies required charges before payment so guests can understand the total rather than discovering mandatory operating fees at the dock.
Optional items are quoted separately when they are not part of the yacht's standard package. These can include catering, a private chef, premium beverages, birthday or proposal decorations, photographers, DJs, jet skis, special pickup arrangements, extended fuel-intensive routes, and extra charter time. Availability depends on the yacht, marina, date, and enough lead time to coordinate vendors safely.
Guests may usually bring their own food and permitted beverages, but vessel-specific restrictions still apply. Soft coolers and compact containers are easier to stow than hard rolling coolers. Red wine, hookah equipment, confetti, glitter, open flames, and staining foods may be prohibited. Ask before purchasing supplies if an item could damage upholstery, decking, or marine systems.
Licensed captains, real vessels, and practical expectations
Every trip operates under the authority of its captain. The captain is responsible for navigation, passenger safety, legal capacity, weather decisions, and compliance with Coast Guard and local rules. Instructions about where to sit, when to move around, swimming, life jackets, or returning to the marina are safety directions, not optional suggestions.
Guest capacity is a legal and operational limit. Many uninspected recreational charter yachts are limited to 12 passengers, while properly inspected vessels may carry more. Children and infants count as passengers. The maximum shown on a listing cannot be exceeded by splitting the group during boarding or by adding guests after the reservation is made.
Marine travel is different from a hotel room or land venue. Motion, spray, engine sound, changing wind, and short delays around bridges or busy channels are normal. Yacht photos show the selected vessel, but removable decor, cushions, water toys, and minor furnishings can change with maintenance. Material substitutions or an unavailable vessel are addressed with the guest before departure.
The crew cannot guarantee wildlife sightings, perfectly flat water, an empty sandbar, or a specific sunset. It can provide a prepared yacht, professional operation, local route knowledge, and clear communication. Guests get the best result by explaining whether their priority is swimming, cruising, photography, music, a meal, a quiet family outing, or a high-energy celebration.
How booking and confirmation work
Start with the fleet and choose a yacht that fits the group size, budget, style, and preferred duration. Submit the date, start time, guest count, and contact information needed to check the request. A request is not a confirmed reservation until availability is verified and the required funds are accepted.
The confirmation should identify the yacht, charter date, start time, duration, price, payment schedule, cancellation and weather terms, and primary guest. Review names, phone numbers, and trip details before paying. If another person is organizing the event, make sure the primary contact can receive time-sensitive marina or weather updates.
Popular Saturday windows, holidays, major Miami events, and sunset departures sell first. Booking earlier improves yacht choice, but last-minute trips are possible when the vessel and crew are ready. Real-time conditions can change quickly, so an unanswered quote or abandoned checkout does not hold inventory indefinitely.
Before the trip, guests receive final boarding guidance and can coordinate approved additions. Changes to the date, duration, guest count, route, or vendors may affect availability and price. Do not assume a text request changed the contract until the team confirms the update.
A free dock visit is available for guests who want to see suitable yachts before booking. The visit can clarify layout, shade, stairs, seating, cabins, boarding access, and event setup. A visit does not reserve a charter date, and the yacht may be away on a trip or moved for service unless the appointment is confirmed.
Weather, safety, and rescheduling
Florida weather can be highly localized. A rain icon for Miami does not always mean the entire charter period will be unsafe, and a clear forecast does not override conditions observed by the captain. The operating team monitors radar, wind, lightning, visibility, and marine advisories as departure approaches.
The captain makes the final decision about whether the vessel can leave safely and where it can travel. Unsafe conditions may lead to a delayed start, adjusted route, reschedule, or the remedy stated in the booking terms. Guests should not cancel independently based only on a consumer weather app and assume that the operator canceled the charter.
Brief rain, clouds, or a route adjustment can occur during an otherwise operable trip. Covered areas vary by yacht, so guests concerned about shade or weather protection should compare layouts before booking. Sunscreen, hats, light layers, and motion-sickness preparation can make the day more comfortable.
Swimming and water-toy use depend on location, current, traffic, daylight, and the captain's approval. Personal flotation devices are available as required, and guests who are not confident swimmers should tell the crew. Diving from the yacht, operating equipment while impaired, or entering the water without permission is unsafe and may end the activity.
Plan the right yacht for your group
Group size is only the first filter. Consider the amount of outdoor seating, shaded space, cabin access, stairs, swim platform, sound system, refrigeration, restroom arrangement, and whether the yacht's layout supports the planned event. A larger overall length does not automatically mean more open social space.
Families may prioritize shade, easy boarding, stable seating, and a simple swim stop. Celebration groups may care more about an open bow, dance space, music, and vendor access. Corporate hosts may need quieter conversation zones and precise timing. Tell the team about mobility needs, young children, elderly guests, or important event logistics before choosing.
The public fleet provides a useful starting point, but not every yacht is ideal for every route. Draft, speed, marina position, fuel plan, crew requirements, and maintenance windows affect fit. A recommendation should explain why an alternative matches the request instead of treating all boats at a similar price as interchangeable.
Vice City Yacht Club serves Miami visitors and local residents in English and Spanish. Reservation support is available daily, and urgent day-of-trip communication should use the contact method supplied in the confirmation. General questions can be answered before payment so the group knows what is included and what remains optional.
Miami yacht charter questions
What is included with a Miami yacht charter?
Every charter includes the yacht, a USCG-licensed captain and professional crew, fuel for the standard local route, bottled water, ice, towels, a Bluetooth sound system, and the vessel's listed water toys. Catering, decorations, jet skis, and extended cruising routes can be added when available.
How long can I charter a yacht?
Most Miami charters are available for four, six, or eight hours. Four hours works well for a focused Biscayne Bay or sandbar outing, six hours allows more time at anchor and underway, and eight hours is the best fit for a full day on the water. Longer and multi-day trips are quoted separately.
Where do Vice City Yacht Club trips depart?
Departure marinas are in Miami and Miami Beach, with the exact marina confirmed for the selected yacht. Common cruising areas include Biscayne Bay, Star Island, Monument Island, Key Biscayne, Coconut Grove, Miami Beach, Sunny Isles, Bal Harbour, and Fort Lauderdale. Bahamas trips require a suitable yacht, weather window, and advance planning.
How far in advance should I book?
Weekends, holidays, and sunset times can sell out weeks ahead, so early booking gives you the best selection. Same-day and next-day trips are possible when a yacht and crew are available. Availability is checked before a booking is confirmed.
Can I see the yacht before I book?
Yes. You can request a free dock visit to inspect suitable yachts before paying. The team can walk you through available options, explain routes and pricing, and answer practical questions without an obligation to book.
How many guests can come aboard?
Guest capacity depends on the vessel and its operating certificate. Many recreational Miami charters carry up to 12 guests, while inspected passenger vessels may carry more. Babies and children count toward the passenger total, and the listing for each yacht shows its maximum capacity.
What happens if weather affects the trip?
The captain makes the final safety decision. If unsafe weather prevents departure, the team works with you under the booking's weather terms to reschedule or provide the applicable refund. Brief rain or ordinary cloudy conditions do not automatically make a trip unsafe.
What should guests bring?
Bring government-issued identification, sun protection, and any food or permitted beverages you want aboard. Soft luggage and non-marking shoes are recommended. Leave red wine, confetti, glitter, hookah equipment, and other items prohibited by the selected yacht at home.
